The liberal straw-man arguments must stop!

You know the ones I am talking about.
The ones where it is said:

- Bush = Republican
- You voted for Bush (May or may not be true)
- You supported his policies (Not true in many cases)
- 0 is passing policies with similar aims as Bush

Therefore

- You should support 0 because you supported similar initiatives under Bush.

or

- You are a hypocrite (or a racist) because you supported Bush's socialist policies and not 0's

This is the ultimate straw man that I see DAILY from the left in the media.

Allow me to debunk this once and for all:

1) Republican =/= Conservative : Most true conservatives did not support MANY or MOST of Bush's policy decisions. True that many may have voted for him, but as is the case in many election situations, he was simply the lesser of two evils (Gore/Kerry). regardless of what Gibbs and the President think, voting for a president does not mean you automatically support every single dumb policy decision that person makes while in office ("We won!")

2) If the entire claim of the left is that Bush was the devil and did such horrible things, why is it OK that 0 is now driving down the EXACT same road as Bush did, but with his foot firmly pressed against the gas pedal? Bush was bad, but a "Bushey-er" 0 is awesome and good? Someone explain that to me?

3) Let me offer some advice: Stop attacking the messenger! Those on the left spend much of their time demonizing Fox News and Health Care Protesters and Right-Wing Zealots, that they completely miss the opportunity to rebutt the points these people are making. The protesters are mis-informed? INFORM THEM! O'Reilly's talking points memo is missing factual information or is misleading? GO ON HIS SHOW AND SAY THAT (He has invited Gibbs numerous times, and been rejected). Crazy Birthers are complaining about the long-form birth certificate? RELEASE THE LONG-FORM AND PUT AN END TO IT ONCE AND FOR ALL.

The left seems extremely arrogant in the way they have handled things in 2009, and if is very reminiscent of Clinton's 1st year in office. We all know how the congressional elections went after that year, so why would you continue to travel down the same failed path?

These strawmen and messenger attacks truly need to stop if we are to get anywhere good as a nation. Not as two political parties, but as a nation!
